Interview answer coach
You've written out your answer to an interview question, but you can't tell: is it strong enough, or does it have a gap you'll only discover in the actual interview?
Write your answer to the interview question and we tell you where it falls short.
You get a score out of 100 computed from your own answer, and we name what is missing: the situation, the task, what you did, or the result.
Who this is for
Anyone with a drafted interview answer who wants to know exactly where its STAR structure is weak, plus one targeted follow-up question to help close that gap before saying it out loud in a real interview.
And when you don’t need it
Anyone hoping we'll write a polished answer for them — the tool scores what you actually wrote and never drafts a replacement, because an answer built from facts you didn't live becomes a lie the moment you say it in an interview.
How it works
Write the question, then your own answer to it, the way you would say it in the room.
We measure it against the STAR structure with fixed, stated weights. The score is arithmetic, not opinion.
You see the gap and rewrite it yourself, so the answer stays yours.
A real example
This is a real input, and this is what the tool actually returned for it. We did not write it for display. It is one example — your result depends on what you write.
What the user wrote
Tell me about a time you improved a process While I was working in the FP&A team, my task was to produce the monthly variance pack for four business units. I analyzed the existing workbook, rebuilt the data model, documented the assumptions and coordinated with each unit head on definitions. As a result the pack moved from nine days to four days and the number of restated figures dropped to zero over the following two quarters.
What the tool returned
Your answer’s score
Your score is 85 out of 100 — strong. Situation: there · Task: there · What you did: clear · Result: there · A number for the result: missing. Length: 67 words.
What your answer is missing
- The result has no number: add the impact if you know it — a percentage, a duration, a count.
Verdict on your answer
The response is highly structured, concise, and effectively addresses all components of the STAR method. It features exceptionally strong, quantifiable results regarding both time efficiency and data accuracy.
Why us and not a general chatbot?
Every line here is measured. We ran the same inputs through the same model with our tooling and without it, and measured both sides with the same yardstick.
| What matters to you | General chatbot | Here |
|---|---|---|
| Judging your answer | An opinion written as prose | A score out of 100 computed with stated weights, and the missing part named |
| A ready-made answer | Writes one for you | We do not — it would carry situations that are not yours and falls apart under questioning |
| Numbers in your answer | Suggests an example figure you copy | We ask you for it and never supply one |
And what we will not do
- We do not write a ready answer for you. A ready answer carries situations that are not yours, and it falls apart the moment the interviewer asks for detail.
- And we do not put a number into your answer. If one is missing, we ask you for it.
Frequently asked questions about this service
How is my score out of 100 actually calculated?
By a fixed rule in the code, not the model's opinion: five components measured directly from your answer's text (situation, task, what you did, result, and whether the result carries a number), with fixed, disclosed weights. The model explains and suggests, but it never decides the score.
What if it asks me for more detail after the first assessment?
If your answer is missing one of the four STAR elements, or a number for the result, the tool shows one specific follow-up question — chosen by code directly from your assessment, not a random question from the model — after you submit your first answer. You write a second answer aimed at that exact question, and the tool judges whether you addressed it. A fully strong answer gets no follow-up question at all.
What happens to my interview question and answer text?
They're sent off to be assessed for that single request, and both your answer and its assessment are saved to your account — no one else sees them, and they never reach an employer. Full details are in our privacy policy.
My score is low but I feel my answer was good — what now?
Check the "what's missing" section — it's built from the same rule that produced the score, not a general opinion. The usual cause is a missing number for the result, or one of the four STAR elements that you implied but didn't state outright. Spell it out and try the assessment again.
Why doesn't it just write a complete answer for me?
By design: it scores what you actually wrote, not what could theoretically be written. A "better" answer we wrote for you would carry facts you never lived, which makes what you say in a real interview untrue.
Can I get several interview answers assessed at once?
No — each submission scores one answer to one question. Submit each answer separately to get a dedicated assessment for it.
How many times can I use this tool?
AI calls here draw from one shared quota across all six of our AI tools, based on your plan — not a separate allowance for this tool alone, and the follow-up round counts as part of the same attempt, not an extra call. The free plan gives a limited number of one-time attempts for the account's lifetime, while paid plans get a quota that refreshes every 30 days.
